The auto fluorescence technology in SOPROLIFE allows you to detect occlusal or interproximal decay, even in its earliest stages, which can often be missed by the eyes or by x-rays.
How does the diagnostic aid mode work?
SOPROLIFE filters (takes away) all colors from the reflection signal. Therefore you get a black and white image of the soft tissues of the mouth such as gingiva, tissue, crown, tongue… SOPROLIFE then amplifies and displays, in color, the fluorescence signal sent by the dentin. Rapid operation and easily analyzed results
The image captured of a healthy tooth will be black and white with varying intensities of green areas symbolizing the fluorescence signal. Depending on the thickness of the enamel, this green signal will be more or less intense: the light has to penetrate the enamel, excite the dentin, and then the fluorescence signal reflected by the dentin has to go back through the enamel to get out. Thicker enamel generates less fluorescence. The green intensity will be less, and slightly blue (due to passing through of the enamel). This is especially true on the cuspids. Depending on the tooth pathology, (destructured enamel, fissure, infected dentin, crown) the fluorescence signal reflected by the dentin will be different (smaller, darker, redder, totally absent).

These new settings are similar to those of the diagnosis aid mode: SOPROLIFE filters (takes away) all colors from the reflection signal. Therefore you get a black and white image of the soft tissues of the mouth such as gingiva, tissue, crown, tongue… SOPROLIFE then amplifies and displays, in color, the fluorescence signal sent by the dentin. The only difference with the diagnosis aid mode comes from the amplification curve. In the treatment aid mode, the red wavelengths are increased and the blue ones are decreased. Compared to audio, we would say we increase treble and decrease the bass.
